The principle of primary implant fixation of thrust plate prostheses is a combination of press fit of the thrust plate in the femoral neck and compression due to a bolt going through a fishplate on the lateral cortex (Bernd et al, 2007). So by this means TPPs can be firmly tightened to the femur (primary fixation), but also the thrust plate and lateral plate are also given the opportunity to be firmly integrated with underlying bone in the course of time through bone on growth (secondary stability)
