Protein energy malnutrition is a problem, which concerns half of the world’s children. It is one of the most common causes of death in developing countries. Since low mortality rates can be achieved using appropriate treatment regimens, stepwise approach is needed to treat these children. Severe forms of malnutrition need hospitalization where medical, dietary, and social problems should be recognized and treated by well-trained and dedicated medical personnel.
