Most patients with asthma are easily diagnosed and respond to standard treatment. Approximately 10% of children do not respond to their treatment and require further investigation to establish the reasons for the lack of response. Unresponsive asthma is currently a subject of intense research, as the risk factors and mechanisms involved in this situation are not clear. This study aims to review the true diagnosis, precipitating factors, pathogenesis, clinical picture and to solve the chronic state by patient education and establishment of comprehensive plans of pharmacologic therapy as intensive inhaled corticosteroids, oral corticosteroids, long acting ß2-agonists, Leukotriene inhibitors, Anti-IgE, and other systemic steroid-sparing therapies.
