Abstract

Lupus erythematosus (LE) is a heterogeneous connective tissue disease associated with autoreactive B-cell activation and is believed to result from the interplay of genetic, environmental and hormonal factors. Skin is the second most common organ involved with varying morbidity. In our research 75% of children suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus presented by skin manifestations. We concluded that cutaneous involvement has a wide prevalence and types of cutaneous involvement may serve as a good parameter of the pattern of severity of underlying systemic activity.
