Abstract
A clinical and echocardiographic study was carried out to determined the prevalence of impaired diastolic function in rheumatoid arthritis patients without cardiac symptoms. The prevalence of diastolic dysfunction is increased in RA patients particularly those with long disease duration, particularly when they get severe disease. This raises the importance of performing echocardiography in RA patients even if they were free of cardiac symptoms.
