As hospitalization due to respiratory diseases accounts for a large portion of the expenditures for child health care, this study was planned to show the epidemiological profile of the patients admitted to the Cairo University Children's Hospitals (CUCHs) suffering from respiratory problems and to analyze their data over a period of three months. Hospitalization due to respiratory diseases constituted 23.9% from the total numbers admitted to the CUCHs over this period. Identification of risk factors for severe respiratory disease is important in planning preventive strategies for the patients and community.
