This study aims at evaluating intraocular refractive surgery as the most recent technique available for correction of refractive errors.Intraocular refractive surgery comprises two items: Phakic intraocular lenses which are anterior chamber, iris – fixated and posterior chamber lenses. They can be used for moderate to high errors and have the advantage of being safe and reversible ; Refractive lensectomy, which is also indicated in cases of high errors and is the technique of choice in cases of presbyopia and it has a rapid and stable refractive outcome. Intraocular refractive surgical techniques are safe and effective in correcting moderate to high errors, however, clear lensectomy has a relatively high incidence of retinal detachment and as regard phakic intraocular lenses, some questions about the long-term performance are still not answered.
