Abstract

Trichinosis is a parasitic zoonosis of major public health significance that is caused by nematode Trichinella spiralis. Symptomatology depends upon the level of infection. The present work aimed to study the effect of three drugs; albendazole, ivermectin and myrrh, on experimental trichinosis. By calculating the reduction rates regarding the intestinal phase, albendazole gave the best results followed by ivermectin, while myrrh was not effective. As regards the muscle phase, albendazole gave the best reduction rates. Ivermectin satisfactory reduction rates, while myrrh was not effective.
