Abstract

The aim of our study is to evaluate the diagnostic relevance of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule in the neonatal infections. Serum level of sICAM in 59 neonates (clinical and laboratory suspicion of infections ) of various gestational ages were studied using ELISA and were compared with the corresponding non infected ones (n=-20) using cutoff level of 300 ng/ml . the te4st has revealed sensitivity of 95% in the diagnosis of neonatal infections. We have concluded that sICAM-1 level may be used as a diagnostic tool in diagnosis of neonatal infection.
