Abstract

Cognitive achievement & intellectual development among school-age children & adolescents is believed to be influenced by numerous factors. Environmental factors such as poverty, parental education, child care giver interaction in addition to numerous other influence are believed to play a role in the final cognitive achievement. Serum trace elements & minerals are believed to play a role as well. Our aim test a group of school age children with newly diagnosed iron deficiency anemia for IQ level & EEG changes. A follow up of these patients will be done after 3 months of iron therapy & correction of anemia to detect changes in IQ & EEG.
