Incisional hernia can be defined as a protrusion through an area of previous surgical incision. The overall incidence of incisional hernia is around 5-10%.Inspite of different surgical techniques used to solve this problem still the incidence is high. Our study included 60 patients admitted to Cairo University Hospitals (Kasr el aini) between December 2000-December 2002. Patients were subdivided to three groups, each group was subjected to a different surgical technique. All techniques required the use of surgical mesh as a reinforcing material. Patients were followed up for three weeks to compare for early postoperative complications.
