The rotator cuff muscles are four muscles arising from the scapula and inserted in the tuberosities of the proximal humerus. The cuff is formed by the tendons of these muscles blending with each other and with the capsule of the gleno-humeral joint near their insertion. The main function of the euff is to act as a depressor for the humeral head during shoulder motion and to act as a dynamic stabilizer for the gleno-humeral joint in the midranges of motion, where the ligaments are still lax.The rotator cuff tears present mainly with pain, weakness, crepitus, and late present by stiffness.
