Abstract

Virtual endoscopy is an emerging CT technique in radiology developed in the past decade. It showed several technical advantage including the ability to visualize the entire stomach, accurate localization of lesions, the ability to visualize stomach distal to an obstructing lesion and the ease of navigation through the stomach in both antegrade and retrograde manner. It is not without limitations .Flat lesions and fine mucosal details can not be depicted. Tissue sample can not be obtained and therapeutic procedures can not be performed. It is not a competitor to conventional gastroscopy. Both techniques are complementary and each possesses unique capabilities.
