Abstract

The use of a distally based dorsal forearm fasciosubcutaneous flap forcoverage of soft tissue defects on the dorsum of the hand was firstdescribed by Kwang Seog Kim in 2003 . Our aim in this work was tostudy the versatility and the extent of coverage of this flap in six patientshad a post traumatic crushed dorsum of the hand. In all cases we noticeda graft loss over the distal part of the flap and regrafting was donesuccessfully in all cases after granulation tissue formation. The functionof the involved tendons was good, so we think that this sloughed part ofthe flap acted as a biological covering or its deep layer survived.
