Abstract

Although neck dissection is the golden surgery for metastatic lymphnodes, paratracheal lymph nodes are not routinely included in thedissection. The objective of this work is to analyze paratracheal nodalyield and relationship with cervical nodal metastases in cases of advancedcarcinoma of the upper aerodigestive tract (T3 or T4) and to determinerelationship between primary site of the tumor and PTLN affection. Itassessed feasibility and advantages versus complication of paratracheallymph node dissection. 30 patients with advanced cancer of the upperaerodigestive tract were included in this study during the period fromAugust 2004 until October 2006.
