Abstract

Eosinophilia is a common finding during routine lab work . Among microbial agents , helminthic infections are the most common cause of eosinophilia specially human infection with Fasciola . Abdominal pain , anaemia and hepatomegaly were the most common symptoms and signs in seropositive cases . Dot-ELISA proved to be a sensitive and specific method for diagnosis of human fascioliasis when compared to parasitological examination and IHA test . Detection of circulating Fasciola antigen provided earlier diagnosis of human fascioliasis than detection of specific anti-Fasciola antibodies.
