Abstract

The information and skills needed to make healthy decisions are learned during childhood and adolescence, education has always been recognized as more than just the development of knowledge and academic skills, it plays a major role in helping to develop a well-balanced, mature and healthy young people. This study aimed at promoting health of school children , hence this study was conducted in four Egyptian schools in an effort to assess health education campaign regarding H1N1, results showed that health education offered to students was so efficient including hand washing and respiratory etiquette and that the school environment had improved during the implementation of this campaign, on the other hand mass media as a tool in providing information to the public especially school staff members was more effective than training which was not so efficient in attracting them, but it led to a great confusion especially as regards vaccination which didn't achieve complete coverage as was planned due to unexplained fear of its side effects. So the concept of health promoting schools should be adopted as a way forward to implement comprehensive school health programs.
