The liver is the main organ where essential hemostatic functions of the body are maintained. These hemostatic functions include xenobiotics metabolism & detoxifications that are sustained by both the strategic location and the unique functional anatomy of the liver. Xenobiotics can cause liver damage in a variety of means either directly or indirectly via the product of metabolism. The response of the liver to this injury varies according to; intensity of the insults, the cell population affected, and the duration of the chemical exposure (acute / chronic). The clinical picture of liver injury due to xenobiotic exposure can simulate any form of acute and chronic hepatobiliary diseases. It is essential to recognize people who are susceptible to this form of liver injury due to personal factors, drug interactions, nutrition, or underling diseases, with the purpose of preventing, early diagnosing, and proper management for better outcome.
