Abstract

NSAID enteropathy is the term used to describe NSAID effect on the small intestine. It was the aim of this work to study NSAID effect on small intestine in patients with RA & OA receiving NSAIDs, using push type enteroscope. Small intestinal mucosal lesions were detected in 18% of our cases, also, fecal occult blood test was positive in 24% of cases there was insignificant statistical association between NSAID effect on the small intestine and age, type of disease, duration, dose, type, route of NSAID intake.
