Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus among medical students. The results of this study revealed that the overall infection rate for hepatitis B was (14%), with the carrier rate was (1.4%). Eighty nine (25.4%) gave history of full dose HBV vaccine and (82.8%) of the non vaccinated group had no markers for hepatitis B and are at risk of infection. Anti-HCV was found in (2.3%). Exposure to blood/blood products, mucocutaneous exposure and contact to jaundiced patients were the most common risk factors in our studied group. The overall frequency of anti-HAV IgG was (98.3%).
