Abstract

This study was performed during the period from December, 2002 to December, 2003 on 31 infants suffering of cholestasis chosen from Pediatric Hepatology Clinic at Children Hospital, Cairo University.We aimed to assess eye growth in the first year of life of healthy infants in accordance to anthropometric measures and to study the effect of cholestasis on ocular size. We concluded that there was a significant decrease in length and head circumference of infants enrolled in the study and there was no statistical significant difference in eye measurements between infants suffering of cholestasis and controls.
