Abstract

Craniopharyngiomas are benign tumors that have intrigued neurosurgeonsfor years. The potential morbidity inflicted with aggressive surgery haschallenged the neurosurgical community to consider more conservativetreatment options. Currently, no consensus exists regarding the optimalmanagement of patients with craniopharyngiomas. However, significantadvances in preoperative imaging, surgical techniques, postoperative care, radiosurgery, and intracystic therapy can help neurosurgeons to improve thequality of care these patients receive.
