Abstract

Ovarian reserve is the term that refers to a woman's current supply of ova and is associated with the reproductive potential. Ovarian ageing, more than uterine ageing, seems to play an important role in decline in fertility. Several methods were used to evaluate the ovarian reserve in women during childbearing period, these tests are:Static tests including: age, basal FSH, basal inhibin-B, day 3 estradiol, anti mullerian hormone, LH level and FSH/LH ratio.Ultrasonographic assessment including: ovarian volume, antral follicle count, stromal blood flow and 3 dimensional ultrasound.Dynamic tests including: the clomiphene citrate challenge test, the GnRH agonist stimulation test and the exogenous FSH ovarian reserve test.Serum progesterone and premature luteinization.Ovarian biopsy.
