In the present work, sand flies were collected from Dakahlyia governorate in Egypt. Two sand fly species belonging to the genus Phlebotomus were identified. Phlebotomus papatasi (P. papatasi) was the predominant species being recorded in all sites and representes (92.3%), of the identified flies. The remaining flies were P. sergenti (7.7%), the overall number of females collected (972) was more than that of males (451). The study Period from (September to December, 2012).No promastigotes were found in any of the dissected female sand flies.
