Abstract

Although current LASIK have attained a high level of clinical effectiveness and safety, outcome variability and patient anxiety remain a concern. Femtosecond laser that performs this procedure may reduce the potential for these complications and may provide enhanced performance and patient acceptance. This study describes the physical mechanisms and technology of a femtosecond laser and also presents preliminary performance data in ex vivo and human clinical testing.
