Menopause is the perminant cessation of menses that occurs after the cessation of ovarian function and occurs around the age of 51. It is associated with anatomical and physiological changes as hot flushes, genitourinary atrophy & bone loss with increased incidence of fracture & increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Estrogen replacement therapy can manage these changes effectively, but unfortunately it has number of side effects, contraindications and complications. So, non steroidal drugs can manage these changes with minimal or even no complications.
