Abstract
Both clinicians and patients recognize the need for improved methods of pain management as pain is a personal experience and one pain-relieving method may not be effective for all patients. This assay reviews the problems of commonly used traditional methods of pain management and spot light on the new method of pain management. Patient-controlled analgesia is a method of pain control that allows the patient to self-administer opioid medication as and when it is needed. The ambulatory infusion pumps are small and portable. These pumps are highly flexible and appropriate for either hospital or home use
