Abstract

A group of thirty patients were randomized blindly into tow arms, each arm comprise fifteen patients Arm I: received docetaxel 35mg/m2 I.V. infusion weekly for 6 weeks then tow weeks rest followed by another 6 weeks (12 cycles) Arm II: received 100 mg/m2 I.V. infusion every three weeks for 6 consecutive cycles Assessment was done clinically and radiologically in the pretreatment period, in the middle and at the end of the treatment, then monthly for three month and every tow thereafterAs regards the overall response rate, it was 86.7% for the weekly regimen (arm I) and 73.3% for the every three weeks regimen (arm II)So we conclude that weekly docetaxel therapy is feasible, has excellent activity and well tolerated in advanced in metastatic breast cancer
