Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine the levels of serum IL-12 (as an immunoregulatory cytokine ) and s-VCAM-1 (as a marker of endothelial dysfunction) in different clinical types of MS and to find out possible correlation between the levels of markers to disease activity and MRI findings. Significant correlations could be detected between IL-12 and each of sVCAM, lesion load, total number of relapses. Signgnificant correlations could be detected between sVCAM and each of IL-12, , lesion load and total number of relapses while no correlation were detected with number of relapses /year or disability score (EDSS). These results may suggest that may help in differntiating MS types.
