Abstract

This is a comparative study between sublingual and vaginal misoprostol for induction of labor in postterm pregnant patients with unfavourable cervix. This study was carried out in El-Galaa teaching hospital on 60 post term pregnant females who were divided into two groups, group I included 30 pregnant females beyond 42weeks gestation who will receive vaginal misoprostol in a dose of 25µg to be repeated every 4 hours if no response is achieved with a maximum of 6 doses while group II included 30 pregnant females beyond 42weeks gestation who will receive sublingual misoprostol in a dose of 50µg to be repeated every 4 hours if no response is achieved with a maximum of 6 doses. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups regarding all measurements of efficacy.
