Abstract

Fascioliasis is becoming an extensive health problem in Egypt. F. gigantica and F. hepatica are incriminated as the causative agents of fascioliasis. Detection of Fasciola antigens is a better immunodiagnostic tool than determination of the antibody level. An antigen system that is receiving increasing attention is the ES Fasciola product. The fractionated bands appeared in the Comassie blue R-350 stained gel has a MW range of 12-67 kDa. The main antigenic polypeptides recognized were in clusters within 12-15 kDa, 23-29 kDa, 32-36 kDa, 42 kDa, 43 kDa and 62-67 kDa.
