Abstract

The transcanalicular transnasal diode laser assisted DCR is a new method in treatment of epiphora. The objective of this work is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the combined technique in comparison to the conventional external technique.38 patients complaining of epiphora were included in this study ,they underwent 21endonasal laser DCR operations and 21 external DCR operations (2 patients in each group had bilateral operations). The success rate one year after the operations was 80.9% for the endonasal group and 90.4% for the external group .As a conclusion, the diode laser assisted DCR is a viable minimally invasive surgical procedure in managing nasolacrimal obstruction.
