Bleeding is a common symptom in patients with liver cirrhosis particularly in advanced cases. It is attributed to many haemostatic defects, one of them is fibrinolysis.This study was conducted to detect fibrinolysis in cases severe liver cirrhosis and to detect its impact on haemostatic state of such patients. This study was conducted on 25patients with severe liver cirrhosis (Child-Pugh grade B&C) and 10 patients with (Child-Pugh grade A) liver cirrhosis as a control group.For all patients; full history, clinical examination, LFTs, PT, PC, aPTT, TT, FDPs, CBC, serum fibrinogen and abdominal ultrasound examination were done.It was found that most of cases of liver cirrhosis have fibrinolysis and the severity of fibrinolysis was correlated with the degree of liver cirrhosis according to Child-Pugh classification.
