House dust mites are identified as an important causative agent of asthma. It was found that D. Farinae and D. Pteronyssinus are the most prevalent house dust mites in Egypt. The medically important house dust mites were studied and differentiated by the electrophoretical patterns of their protein ; also by the DNA banding patterns. Antigenic extracts were prepared from the cultivated mites.
