In this study, serum transferrin receptor level was noticed to be elevated in iron deficiency anemia and combined cases of iron deficiency anemia and anemia of chronic disease while in anemia of chronic disease, serum transferrin receptor was within the normal range, allowing to distinguish the presence of iron deficiency anemia especially in patients with chronic disease.
