Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the causes and risk factor of vascular injuries during surgical laparoscopy and the most important precautions to avoid these vascular injuries during operative laparoscopy. We operated in 10 patients with vascular injuries occurred during laparoscopy. The following patients were excluded from this study:Patients with a history of bleeding, abnormal platelet count, or systemic disorders e.g hepatic disorders, and those on salicylates, heparin, or oral anticoagulants, and patients had traumatic intraabdominal bleeding. This study suggests that vascular injuries during surgical laparoscopy, mostly occur after insertion of the veress needle or the primary trocar and the surgeon experience, patient selection and good instruments and equipments are of great value to prevent such complications.
