Abstract
The study was conducted at the emergency unit in Kasr El Aini Obstetric and Gynecology hospital to assess the postpartum care provided to delivered mothers. The study is a cross sectional study. The methodology followed a systems analysis approach in addition to an exit interview questionnaire with 160 clients at the time of their hospital discharge. The results profile the staffing pattern and system of work. The services provided to mothers were generally adequate though not standardized. They were generally deficient in aspects related to health education and counseling. The study recommended putting an organized, sound, scientific system of work in the emergency unit in order to provide high quality services.
