Abstract

This study includes theories of labor, causes of post-term pregnancy, Induction of labor and stripping of membranes.A larger prospective investigation was performed which revealed that weekly membrane stripping at 39 weeks gestation safely reduced the incidence of post term pregnancies with no increase in either maternal or fetal morbidity. In the present study stripping of membranes at 38 weeks is safe but it was statistically insignificant in initiation of labor at its proper expected date (p>0.05) so atrial on large number of population is needed.
