Cytokeratins are the intermediate filaments of epithelial tissue. This work was carried out on several human glands to study normal distribution of cytokeratin 8/18 and cytokeratin 19 in their epithelium. Some diseased glands were also studied for possible change in cytokeratin expression. Quantitative morphometric study was done using the image analyzer, to measure area and density of reaction in each gland. The role of cytokeratins in diagnosis and follow up of the diseases was then discussed.
