Abstract

Resistance to the thyroid hormone is a genetic disease caused by mutation in thyroid receptor Beta gene. It is either central or generalized resistance and the effect in peripheral tissue depends upon the tissue specific factors which modulate the dominant negative inhibition. The effect of mutation is either localized to thyroid gland or associated with complication as respiratory system disorders, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) or cardiac dysfunction.
