The purpose of the this study was to determine whether obese patients have different rates of solid and liquid gastric emptying compared to healthy controls . Thirty obese patients (15 males & 15 females) were investigated prior to dietary restriction.The control group consists of 15 health subjects (8 males & 7 females)In obese patients a significantly shortened half emptying time and lag time for solids compared to control subjects.No different in gastric emptying time for fluid in both groups.
