Monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis is a symptom rather than a disease, so that no single etiologic factor will be able to explain all cases and that, in each individual patient multiple factors may be operative. Nocturnal enuresis primarily appears to represent a delay in the development. Nocturnal polyuria, small functional bladder capacity for age, uncontrolled bladder contractions during night and failure to arouse in response to bladder fullness or contractions is considered as a part of, delayed development and tend to improve with time and to restore spontaneously in most children.
