Abstract

(TASS) is a sterile postoperative inflammatory reaction causedby a noninfectious substance e.g. intraocular solutions;preservatives; denatured ophthalmic viscosurgical devices;enzymatic detergents; bacterial endotoxin; oxidized metaldeposits and residues; that enters the anterior segment, resulting in toxic damage to intraocular tissues. The processtypically starts 12 to 48 hours after cataract/anterior segmentsurgery, usually improves with steroid treatment.
