Local recurrence following surgery results from incomplete removal and subsequent regrowth of or malignant cells. The Incidence rate in cases of osteosarcoma is about 30, in cases of chondrosarcoma, the rate can vary from 15% to 87% and In cases of synovial sarcoma, the rate is about 20%. Predisposing factors are skip metastasis, pathological fracture, grade of the lesion, surgical procedure for the primary lesion, preoperative chemotherapy & radiotherapy, and matrix metalloproteinase-1. It is diagnosed by biopsy, Imaging ( plain X-ray, CT & MRI) and blood analysis. When it is diagnosed, it is treated by resection of all palpable masses and chemotherapy or amputation in the second recurrence.
