Abstract

There is on world wide agreement for the definition of SGA or IUGR. Intrauterine growth curves have a characteristic plateauing phase due to differences in the fetal placental weight ratios. The cause of IUGR is diverse and may be due to placental, fetal or maternal factors. The cause should always be investigated as this may help in the outcome of the following pregnancies.
