Scintigraphic esophageal transit study was used for evaluation of motility disorder in patient with esophageal varices and also the effect of repeated endoscopic injection sclerotherapy on it.This study was performed by injection of radiolabeled semisolid material coincident with radioisotopic dynamic images. Then these images were interpreted both qualitatively by observation of cini-images and quantitatively by creating time activity curve. Four ROI`s were drown on each third and for whole esophagus, time activity curve is created for each, ETT were calculated and finally condensed images were performed. The study revealed prolongation of ETT of whole esophagus and specially for the lower third tat increase with increased number of injection. As the studies were performed in both erect and supine positions it revealed more prolongation of ETT in supine than in erect position.
