The importance of the meniscus was poorly understood, and meniscal excision was performed as the primary treatment for meniscal injury. Yet, meniscectomy caused degenerative changes in the knee. Therefore meniscal transplantation was proposed for alleviation of symptoms in the short term and postponement of degenerative changes after meniscectomy in the long term. The aim of this study is to highlight meniscal allograft transplantation, its indications, graft processing and preservation, immunology of meniscal transplants, pre-operative graft sizing, surgical techniques, post operative rehabilitation & results and of the procedure.
