Abstract

Viral hepatitis continues to be a major health threat in bothdeveloped and developing nations.Hepatitis C is a major public health issue, because it is prevalent inmost countries.In this research which aimed at studying the impact of HCVgenotype and viral load on the hepatic pathology and secondarily theresponse to Interferon therapy, the study was performed on 221 patients(173 male and 48 female). The study showed that a higher viral wasaccompanied with higher fibrosis score and degree of steatosis. 88% ofthe studied patients were HCV genotype 4.
