Abstract

Diffusion weighted imaging adds useful information in several braindisorders besides acute ischemic stroke. It is useful in identifyingshearing injuries in cases of head trauma, evaluating success or failureof abscess therapy, differentiation of some brain tumors, anddistinguishing radiotherpy effect from tumoral recurrence.DWIreflects histopathological changes associated with toxic and metabolicbrain disorders and provides useful information regarding the degreeof involvement of white and gray matter in different pediatricdisorders.
