Abstract

Warts are hyperkeratotic excrescencies presenting as dirty grayish or brownish rounded, prominent, distinctly circumscribed elevations with a mammillated surface studded with protuberances of hard consistency. Warts are caused by distinct types of human papilloma Virus (HPV). Clinically warts appear in the form of active infection, latent infection and subclinical infection. There are many treatment modalities, none of them proved to be completely successful universally effective and recurrence rates are high.
